Minimise risks, maximise profits.
Textile materials that are used as personal protective equipment (PPE) are subject to the strictest requirements. A neutrally tested and certified product is the prerequisite for surviving in a fiercely contested market.
Using requirement standards and technical specifications, we certify your products according to Regulation (EU) 2016/425 on personal protective equipment. Among other things, this clearly defines what has to be observed in terms of production and supply in the European Economic Area. The product range we have certified covers everything from protective clothing for the fire brigade to heat, cold, weatherproof clothing and high-visibility warning clothing as well as other personal protective equipment such as protective clothing against liquid chemicals or electrostatics, cut protection and welder protective clothing and protective gloves.
The EU regulation distinguishes between three categories:
PPE Category I (minor risks)
Personal protective equipment for which the user can assess its effectiveness against minor risks and that the effects of which, when they are gradual, can be perceived by the user in good time and without danger (e.g. protective clothing for protection against rain or gloves for gardening tasks).
PPE Category II
Personal protective equipment that cannot be classified as either category I or category III (such as high-visibility warning clothing or safety gloves that protect against mechanical risks).
PPE Category III (high/fatal risks)
Personal protective equipment that is intended to protect against fatal dangers or serious and irreversible damage to health and where the user itself cannot identify the immediate effect of the danger in good time (e.g. protective clothing for the fire brigade or protective gloves for fire fighters).
Certificates and certifications in the product area of PPE
EU type-examination (certificate)
An EU type-examination certificate is issued by a notified body if the product is subject to the EU harmonisation legalisation and an EU type-examination is provided as a conformity assessment procedure (for PPE Cat. II and III).
Product certificate
A product certificate is issued by a certification centre if the product is subject to the EU harmonisation legalisation and no EU type-examination is provided as a conformity assessment procedure (for PPE Cat. I).
Confirmations
The confirmation is issued for products which are not subject to any EU Regulation or Directive.
HuPF assessment (for products) and HuPF certificate (for materials / previous products)
The HuPF (German abbreviation for “Manufacturing and Testing Description for a Universal Fire-Resistant Clothing”) is a manufacturing standard for protective clothing used as part of the personal equipment for firefighters and is valid for the fire service in Germany. The basis for requesting a HuPF assessment Part 1 or 4 for a product is the presentation of a type-examination certificate valid for this product in connection with the fulfilment of the requirements of EN 469. The same applies for HuPF Part 2 or 3 for which the requirements of EN ISO 11612 must be fulfilled.
Safety at all levels.
Personal protective equipment must provide safety above all. However, other aspects contribute to a successful introduction onto the market and the reliability of a product. A balance between function, design and sustainability is key.
